Grand Rapids, MI – A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for several Michigan counties starting this evening. Snowfall between 2 and 7 inches is expected across the region.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the advisory begins at 4 p.m. Thursday for central and west-central counties like Mason, Clare, and Newaygo. The advisory for eastern counties, including Alpena, Gladwin, and Presque Isle, starts at 6 p.m. Snow will continue through Friday morning, creating hazardous road conditions.

Drivers should prepare for slick roads during both the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes. Total snow accumulation will vary, with higher amounts reaching up to 7 inches in areas like Presque Isle. The NWS advises slowing down and maintaining caution while traveling.
