Grand Rapids, MI – A winter weather advisory remains in effect through Monday evening, impacting communities across western and central Michigan with snow, sleet, and freezing rain expected to create hazardous travel conditions.
According to the National Weather Service, snowfall will range between 2 to 5 inches in portions of central and west-central Michigan, including Ludington, Reed City, Greenville, and Big Rapids. The advisory, which extends until 11 p.m. Monday, warns of slippery road conditions during the evening commute.
Farther south, areas such as Muskegon, Grand Rapids, and St. Johns will experience a mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain, with up to one inch of snow and a light glaze of ice. The advisory for this region is active from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday.
Southwest Michigan communities, including Kalamazoo, Jackson, and Holland, can expect less than an inch of snow and light ice accumulations. The advisory for these areas is set to expire at 7 p.m.
Drivers are urged to exercise caution, particularly on bridges and overpasses, which are more likely to become slick.
