Gaylord, MI – A winter weather advisory has been issued for much of Northern Michigan, as mixed precipitation is expected to impact travel on Wednesday. The advisory will affect several counties in both the northern Lower and Upper Michigan regions, from 2 AM to 8 PM EDT.

According to the National Weather Service, the affected areas will experience a combination of snow, sleet, and freezing rain. Snow accumulations could reach up to 2 inches in some areas, while ice accumulations are expected to be around one-tenth to two-tenths of an inch. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph, creating hazardous driving conditions.

Travelers are advised to plan for slippery roads, especially during the morning and evening commutes. The conditions may significantly affect travel across several counties, including Emmet, Otsego, and Grand Traverse, among others.

Drivers are urged to reduce speed and exercise caution when traveling. The advisory is in effect for varying times across different regions: from 2 AM to 2 PM in Northern Lower Michigan, from 5 AM to 5 PM in other parts of the Lower Peninsula, and from 8 AM to 8 PM in parts of Eastern Upper Michigan.
