Ironwood, MI – A strong late-season snowstorm continues to impact Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, bringing hazardous travel and accumulating snow through Monday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for Gogebic, Iron, Dickinson, Menominee, Keweenaw, and Northern Houghton counties until at least 1 PM CDT (2 PM EDT) Monday. In Ironwood and surrounding areas, total snow accumulation is expected to reach up to 7 inches, with the heaviest snowfall centered between Ironwood and Wakefield.

Road conditions are expected to remain slippery, and officials warn that the Monday morning commute may be significantly impacted across the region. Drivers are urged to reduce speed, allow extra travel time, and prepare for snow-covered roadways and reduced visibility.

Keweenaw and Northern Houghton counties could receive an additional 3 to 5 inches, while Iron, Dickinson, and Menominee counties are forecast to see between 1 and 4 more inches of snow. The storm has prompted concerns over potential power outages and localized disruptions.

Residents should keep emergency supplies, such as flashlights, food, and water, in vehicles if travel is necessary. Updates will continue as the system progresses eastward.
