Gaylord, MI – A powerful winter storm is set to sweep through Northern Lower Michigan this weekend, bringing heavy snowfall and dangerous winds. Residents should prepare for hazardous road conditions, especially along I-75, as snow accumulation could reach 6 inches or more by Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service, widespread snow will develop late Saturday and intensify overnight. Winds up to 25 mph could lead to blowing and drifting snow, reducing visibility for drivers. Temperatures will stay bitterly cold, with wind chills dropping below zero early next week.
By Monday, sub-zero wind chills will pose additional risks for those outdoors. Tuesday and Wednesday bring continued chances of snow, with highs barely reaching the teens.
Drivers should avoid unnecessary travel, keep an emergency kit in their vehicle, and check road conditions before heading out. Snowplows will be working, but accumulation may outpace clearing efforts.
