Grand Rapids, MI – A winter storm is set to bring significant snowfall and hazardous road conditions to Grand Rapids just in time for Valentine’s Day. Drivers should prepare for reduced visibility and slippery roads, especially along US-131 and I-96.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 1 p.m. Thursday, with additional lake-effect snow expected through the weekend. Moderate snowfall Friday night into Saturday could lead to slick roads, and heavier bursts of snow are possible. Wind gusts up to 28 mph may create drifting snow, further complicating travel.
Friday will see highs near 33°F with a 100% chance of snow, possibly accumulating up to five inches. Saturday will bring continued snowfall with highs in the low 30s, followed by additional snow into Sunday. Temperatures will remain in the 20s and low 30s throughout the extended forecast.
Residents should use caution when traveling and allow extra time for commutes. Be prepared for sudden changes in visibility and worsening road conditions.
