Lansing, MI – The Michigan State Police (MSP) is kicking off its Fifth Annual Winter Coat Drive tomorrow, inviting residents across the state to donate new or gently used coats for families in need. The statewide collection effort will run through Wednesday, November 27.

According to the MSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division (CVED), donation boxes have been placed at every MSP post and select weigh stations to gather as many coats as possible. The agency’s goal is to ensure no one goes without warm outerwear during Michigan’s cold months.

Organizers say all donations will remain local, directly benefiting communities near each post. Coats of all sizes are accepted, and residents are encouraged to contribute throughout the month.

“This is one of our favorite annual traditions,” MSP officials said in a statement. “The support we receive from residents every year truly makes a difference for families across Michigan.”

Those wishing to help can drop off items during normal business hours at any MSP post. A full list of locations is available at Michigan.gov/MSPPosts.
