Grand Rapids, MI – A wind advisory remains in effect across southwestern Michigan today, with gusts reaching up to 45 mph. Residents should expect hazardous conditions, especially on highways like I-96 and US-131, where visibility may be reduced due to blowing snow.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the advisory will remain in place from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday. Winds from the southwest at 15 to 25 mph, with peak gusts of 45 mph, could down tree limbs and potentially cause power outages. Drivers, particularly those in high-profile vehicles, are urged to exercise caution.

Snow showers are expected this afternoon, with a 30% chance of precipitation. Tuesday brings a similar forecast, with increasing chances of snow after 1 p.m. Temperatures will remain below freezing, with highs near 34 today and 29 tomorrow.

The extended outlook shows partly sunny skies Wednesday with calmer winds. However, freezing rain may return Friday, complicating commutes later in the week.

Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor objects and monitor updates for potential changes in the forecast.
