Grand Rapids, MI – Light flurries and chilly temperatures will continue to sweep across West Michigan on Friday, but a significant warm-up is on the way this weekend. Residents should brace for changing conditions, including rain showers by Sunday and unseasonably mild weather early next week.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids, Friday will see cloudy skies with occasional flurries in the morning, accompanied by highs between 21 and 26 degrees. Skies will clear this afternoon, but temperatures will remain brisk. Calm winds make for manageable conditions throughout the day.
Heading into Saturday, expect mostly cloudy skies with highs climbing to 35 degrees. East-southeast winds will increase slightly, gusting up to 22 mph. By Saturday night, showers are expected to roll in, with temperatures dipping to 31 degrees. Rain chances increase to 90%, making travel on major roads such as US-131 potentially slick during the evening.
Sunday will bring steadier rain showers starting after 1 p.m. Highs will soar to 41 degrees, marking a notable shift toward milder weather. Overnight rain will persist into Monday, which is expected to reach an unseasonable high of 49 degrees. Showers will taper off Monday evening, leaving cloudy skies and lows near 33 degrees.
The five-day forecast highlights the need to prepare for wet roadways and changing travel conditions over the weekend. Commuters should allow extra time for travel, especially as rain becomes more frequent.
