Grand Rapids, MI – A mix of light snow and rain is on tap for Saturday in West Michigan, potentially impacting weekend travel plans. Residents should prepare for gusty winds, fluctuating temperatures, and a slight chance of snow showers by this afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, Grand Rapids will see cloudy skies today, with highs nearing 30 degrees. Snow showers may develop after 2 p.m., accompanied by west winds of 10 to 20 mph, with gusts reaching up to 26 mph. Saturday will bring milder temperatures, peaking near 37 degrees, but a rain-snow mix could move into the area late afternoon, tapering off by evening.

Looking ahead, Sunday offers a break in the clouds with sunny skies and highs near 44 degrees. However, rain showers will return Sunday night and persist into Monday, with a 70% chance of precipitation. Monday’s temperatures will reach the mid-40s before cooling again overnight.

Drivers should remain cautious as rain transitions into snow late Tuesday. The 5-day outlook predicts highs ranging from 27 to 37 degrees through midweek, with snow likely on Wednesday.

Residents are advised to secure outdoor holiday decorations as gusty winds continue, especially along open roadways. Plan ahead for possible slick conditions on elevated surfaces like bridges and overpasses.
