Gaylord, Mich. – A stretch of fall-like weather is taking hold across northern Michigan, with showers and a noticeable drop in temperatures lasting through the weekend. Lows are dipping into the 40s tonight, and daytime highs are expected to stay in the 50s to low 60s through Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, showers will linger tonight, followed by a round of more widespread rain late Thursday night into Friday morning. Winds will be brisk, especially across the eastern Upper Peninsula and the tip of the Mitt. Friday brings another chance of steady rain, keeping conditions damp and cool.
Travelers along I-75 from St. Ignace to Gaylord and U.S. 131 into Petoskey should be prepared for wet pavement and reduced visibility during rain bands. Cooler air means evening activities will feel more like late September, with outdoor events from Traverse City to Alpena running under jacket weather.
The weekend won’t dry out entirely, as scattered showers remain possible Saturday and lighter rain chances continue into Sunday. While flooding concerns are low, residents are advised to keep rain gear handy and plan for cooler nights.
Conditions stay unsettled into early next week, with additional advisories possible.
