Gaylord, MI – Northern Michigan residents can expect a stretch of dry, pleasant weather through the end of the workweek before a slight chance of showers returns Saturday.

According to the US National Weather Service in Gaylord, skies will stay partly to mostly sunny today through Thursday, with high temperatures ranging from the low to mid-60s. Overnight lows will dip into the low 40s.

Conditions will trend warmer Friday and Saturday, when temperatures climb well above early October averages. Highs are forecast to reach the low 70s Friday and could push toward the mid-70s on Saturday.

The weather service noted that while much of the region should remain dry, a few light showers may develop Saturday, particularly for areas north of the Mackinac Bridge. Breezy conditions are also expected to accompany the warmer temperatures.

The mild stretch marks a sharp contrast to typical October weather across northern Michigan, where highs often remain in the upper 50s. The warm-up may provide residents with an extra opportunity to enjoy outdoor activities before colder air returns later in the month.

Residents are encouraged to monitor local forecasts for updates heading into the weekend, especially if traveling across the Straits of Mackinac, where spotty rain chances may develop.
