Michigan – This weekend brings a mix of winter’s last breath and spring’s arrival across Michigan, with snow showers in the north and milder temperatures in the south. Residents should prepare for changing conditions and remember to set clocks forward an hour on Sunday as daylight saving time begins.

According to the National Weather Service, northern Michigan, including Gaylord and Marquette, will see scattered snow showers Friday night and into Saturday, with highs reaching the low 30s. Snow chances decrease by Sunday, but cold overnight lows in the teens and 20s will persist.

Meanwhile, southern Michigan, including Grand Rapids, will experience increasing clouds Saturday with highs in the upper 30s before a warm-up to the mid-50s by Monday. Sunshine will dominate early next week, signaling a shift toward spring weather.

Winds will be gusty in some areas, particularly on Sunday, with speeds reaching up to 22 mph. Travelers should use caution, especially in areas experiencing lingering snow showers.

Looking ahead, Michigan’s five-day forecast suggests a steady warm-up, with mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper 50s by midweek. Rain chances return by Wednesday.

Residents should plan for an extra hour of daylight starting Sunday evening, with sunset moving past 7:30 p.m. Be sure to adjust clocks and check smoke detector batteries as part of the transition.
