Marquette, MI — Thunderstorms, gusty winds, and rising river levels are expected to impact Marquette and surrounding Upper Michigan communities heading into Easter weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, a prolonged period of widespread rainfall and snowmelt beginning Friday, April 18, will elevate the risk of flooding along flood-prone rivers, especially near US-41 and rural access roads. Residents are urged to prepare for potential travel delays and rapidly changing road conditions Friday through at least Tuesday.

On Friday, showers will begin in the afternoon with high temperatures around 54°F. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. By Friday night, rain will intensify with a 60% chance of mixed rain and snow as temperatures fall to the low 30s. This pattern will continue through the weekend, with mostly cloudy skies on Saturday and another round of potential rain and snow showers arriving by Sunday night.

Easter Sunday brings a brief dry period with highs in the mid-40s, but rain and snow return Sunday night into Monday.
