Grand Rapids, MI – West Michigan will enjoy a taste of spring on Tuesday, but colder temperatures, rain, and even snow return by midweek.

According to the National Weather Service, Tuesday will see increasing clouds with a high near 62°F. South winds could reach up to 18 mph, making for a breezy but warm day. This brief warm-up precedes a major shift in weather, with rain moving in by Wednesday afternoon and the potential for snow overnight.

Showers are expected to begin after 2 p.m. Wednesday, with an 80% chance of rain throughout the day. By late Wednesday night, rain will transition to snow as temperatures drop to the low 30s. Snow showers will continue into Thursday morning, potentially affecting commutes. While accumulation is uncertain, slick roads are possible, especially on major highways like I-96 and US-131.

Thursday will be partly sunny with a high of 39°F, but colder air lingers into the evening, with a low near 29°F. The weekend looks more favorable, with mostly sunny skies and highs climbing back into the upper 40s to low 50s.

With spring officially beginning Thursday, this week’s weather serves as a reminder that winter isn’t quite finished yet. Residents should stay prepared for changing conditions and check local forecasts for updates.
