Detroit, MI – Strong thunderstorms are moving through central Michigan this morning, bringing intense rainfall. The National Weather Service (NWS) warns of marginal risk for severe storms, which may include flooding and damaging winds. The heavy rain is expected to diminish by the afternoon.

According to the US National Weather Service Detroit/Pontiac, thunderstorms will produce intense rainfall rates exceeding one inch per hour, potentially causing localized flooding. The storms are anticipated to last from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a low chance of another round of storms in the evening. Residents should remain cautious as isolated damaging winds and large hail are possible.

Today’s high temperatures will range from 83 to 89 degrees, becoming very warm and humid by the afternoon with a slight chance (10-20%) of thunderstorms. Tonight, temperatures will drop to between 62 and 69 degrees, with muggy conditions and a low chance of storms in the south.

The rest of the week looks calmer. On Wednesday, temperatures will be between 76 and 82 degrees, with a 25-40% chance of showers or thunderstorms. Thursday will be mostly sunny, with highs from 73 to 79 degrees. Friday will see increasing clouds, with temperatures ranging from 79 to 83 degrees.
