Grand Rapids, MI – After several weeks of unseasonably warm weather, Grand Rapids will experience cooler temperatures today, reaching highs in the mid-40s, which is typical for this time of year. Expect mostly sunny skies for most of Tuesday, followed by light east winds at 5 to 15 mph. As the week progresses, the weather will shift, bringing higher rain chances by Wednesday evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids, Tuesday’s high will peak around 47 degrees, with a calm night expected as temperatures dip to a low of 31. On Wednesday, the forecast calls for partly sunny skies and a mild high of 51 before showers become likely by nightfall. Rainfall could be heavy at times, with a 90% chance of precipitation expected Wednesday night and early Thursday. Motorists should be cautious on major roadways like I-196 and US-131 during the peak of the rain, as visibility may be reduced, and road conditions could be slick.
The rain is anticipated to continue through Thursday, with temperatures in the low 50s. By Friday, skies will clear up, offering Grand Rapids residents partly sunny weather and a high of 54. The warming trend will hold into the weekend, with mostly sunny skies on Saturday and Sunday, and temperatures gradually climbing into the upper 50s by Sunday.
This week’s cooler pattern and fluctuating conditions signal a return to Michigan’s seasonal norm. Residents should keep umbrellas handy midweek and monitor local weather reports for updates on possible rain delays or impacts.
