GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan – Crisp air and golden light mark the calm before another round of unsettled weather across western Michigan. After a pair of sunny, mild days, clouds and scattered showers are expected to move in just in time for the Halloween weekend, signaling the region’s slow turn toward early winter patterns.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids, the next two days will stay quiet and pleasant. Highs will reach the upper 50s Tuesday and mid-50s Wednesday, ideal for leaf cleanup and outdoor prep before wetter conditions arrive. Light east and northeast breezes will make for comfortable afternoons across Kent, Ottawa, and Muskegon counties, though nights will dip into the 30s under mostly clear skies.

The shift begins late Thursday as a weak front approaches from the west, thickening clouds through the day. Rain chances increase Friday, especially along and west of U.S. 131, with scattered showers likely into Friday night. The system could bring light rain totals under a quarter inch, but enough to dampen trick-or-treat plans if showers linger into the evening.

Saturday and Sunday stay on the cool, unsettled side, with highs in the upper 40s and lows in the upper 30s. Breezes off Lake Michigan may make the air feel even crisper, with hints of light drizzle near the lakeshore.

Looking ahead, early November hints at a colder push—possibly the season’s first true chill. To be fair, the late-week rain might feel like a nuisance now, but it’s the start of the pattern that typically ushers in Michigan’s first flakes soon after Halloween.
