Gaylord, MI – Northern Michigan will get a brief break from wintry weather today before another round of mixed precipitation moves in this weekend.
The National Weather Service in Gaylord reports that this morning’s rain and snow mix will gradually taper off, allowing for some clearing later this afternoon. High temperatures will range from the upper 30s in the eastern Upper Peninsula to the upper 40s and low 50s south of M-72.
Tonight will be partly to mostly cloudy, with colder lows dropping into the 20s.
By Saturday, another system brings a return of rain and snow, especially across the eastern U.P. and northern Lower Michigan. Highs will reach the upper 30s to upper 40s.
The chance for mixed precipitation increases Saturday night into Sunday, when rain and snow are likely before gradually diminishing. Highs Sunday will stay cooler, mainly in the mid-30s to low 40s.
While no major accumulations are expected, changing precipitation types and cooler temperatures could lead to slick spots at times, especially overnight and during early morning hours.
