DETROIT, MI – Gray clouds hang low over the Detroit skyline early this morning, the pavement still damp from scattered overnight drizzle. A brisk west wind whistles through side streets, sending leaves tumbling across parking lots and signaling the region’s shift toward a wetter, chillier pattern.

The National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac reports that after a breezy start to Monday, calmer and sunnier conditions will take hold by afternoon. Winds will ease to around 10 mph, with highs near 61°F — a temporary reprieve before another system approaches Tuesday. Travelers along I-94 and I-75 should expect gusts near 25 mph through midday, especially across open stretches between Ann Arbor and Port Huron.

By Tuesday, clouds return quickly with increasing chances for rain after sunrise. Showers will expand through the afternoon, bringing periods of steady rainfall into the evening. Temperatures rise modestly to the low 60s before dipping back into the 40s Tuesday night. Some embedded downpours are possible, but no severe weather is expected.

Wednesday stays damp and breezy, with highs near 53°F and lingering showers before clearing by nightfall. Drier air will filter in behind the system, allowing cooler air to settle in across southeast Michigan by late week.

By Thursday, skies clear and temperatures dip into the mid-30s across outlying suburbs — the first real hint of a fall frost for Detroit’s northern counties. The weekend looks brighter but brisk, ideal for fall cleanups, cider runs, and early Halloween prep before the next cold front appears late Sunday.

Wed: 53/41 – Breezy, lingering showers.
