Detroit, MI – Southeast Michigan residents should prepare for a stormy Tuesday as fall weather arrives with gusty winds and heavy rain. The National Weather Service warns that localized damaging winds up to 50 mph are possible, especially in stronger thunderstorms expected during the afternoon and evening of Tuesday, September 23.

According to the National Weather Service Detroit/Pontiac, Tuesday’s storms will not reach severe criteria, but heavy rainfall could cause ponding on roadways including I-94, I-75, and I-96 during the evening commute. Drivers are urged to slow down, allow extra travel time, and remain alert for reduced visibility.

Scattered showers will linger into Wednesday, September 24, with a 50% chance of rain continuing through the day. Conditions begin to improve Thursday as drier air moves in, setting up a cooler but pleasant end to the workweek.
