Detroit, Michigan – Strong thunderstorms with localized flooding and damaging wind gusts are likely across Southeast Michigan through Friday evening, prompting concern for urban roadways and vulnerable areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Detroit, scattered storms are expected to increase in coverage, with isolated severe cells developing mainly Thursday. Areas along and south of the I-69 corridor—including Ann Arbor, Monroe, and Detroit—face the highest risk of downpours and winds reaching 60 mph.

Today will feel cooler and less humid in the Tri Cities and Thumb, but highs still climb into the upper 70s to mid-80s across the region. Adrian may reach 85°F. Thursday and Friday will bring increased heat and instability, with temperatures rebounding into the mid to upper 80s and humidity returning by Saturday.

Localized flooding is possible in urban and low-lying areas. Residents are urged to avoid driving through water-covered roads and to secure outdoor items that may be blown by gusty winds. Keep weather alerts active overnight.

Storm chances taper into Saturday, but humidity will surge again with highs near 90°F. More alerts could be issued as conditions evolve.
