Grand Rapids, MI – West Michigan residents can expect a brief break in the clouds as sunny skies return midweek, but spring rain threatens Easter weekend plans by Friday.

According to the National Weather Service, Grand Rapids will see sunny, mild weather beginning Wednesday with a high near 51°F. Thursday continues the spring reprieve with mostly sunny skies and a warm high of 65°F. However, a 90% chance of rain Thursday night could bring significant showers and possible thunderstorms by Friday morning.

Winds remain steady through the week, with gusts up to 25 mph possible Wednesday. Friday’s high will climb to an unseasonably warm 76°F, but the comfort may be short-lived. Showers will persist through Friday night, with thunderstorm chances peaking after 2 a.m. Motorists on I-196 should be cautious of slick roads and reduced visibility during peak commute hours.

Weekend plans may require adjustment. Saturday clears slightly with partly sunny skies and highs in the mid-50s. Sunday and Monday bring increasing cloud cover and another chance of spring showers.

Five-Day Forecast for Grand Rapids:

Sunday: Chance of showers, mostly cloudy, high near 43°F.

Wednesday: Sunny, high near 51°F.
