Grand Rapids, MI – A clipper system is expected to cross Michigan Thursday afternoon, bringing 1-3 inches of snow and creating potentially hazardous road conditions.

The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids predicts snowfall between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Thursday, lasting into early Friday. Areas along the western and central parts of Michigan could see the heaviest snow accumulation, with Muskegon and Cadillac facing up to an 80% chance of 2 inches or more.

According to the NWS, slick roads and reduced visibility could slow commutes Thursday evening and Friday morning. Drivers are advised to allow extra travel time, stay informed with updated forecasts, and remain cautious of potential freezing drizzle.

Residents in Grand Rapids, Muskegon, and surrounding areas are encouraged to monitor conditions as the clipper system moves through the region.
