Southwest Michigan – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Berrien, Cass, and St. Joseph counties through Thursday morning. Forecasters predict snowfall between 1-4 inches in these areas, with localized squalls possible. Additional snow accumulation of up to one inch is likely elsewhere, making evening travel hazardous.
According to the National Weather Service, roads on I-94, I-196, US 31, and US 131 may become slick and snow-covered. Residents along the Indiana-Michigan border should prepare for difficult driving conditions.
An arctic blast will push temperatures into the teens overnight. Wind chills could plummet to as low as -10° early Thursday, creating bitterly cold conditions. Officials urge residents to bundle up and limit time outdoors to avoid frostbite risks.
Travelers are advised to drive cautiously and allow extra time for commutes. The most severe impacts are expected late Wednesday into Thursday morning.
