Michigan residents should prepare for snowy and windy conditions Friday, with slippery roads and hazardous travel expected across the northern part of the state. Gusty winds and patchy blowing snow will create visibility issues, particularly on highways and bridges.
According to the National Weather Service, a winter weather advisory remains in effect through early Friday morning for portions of Northern Lower and Upper Michigan. Snow accumulations could reach up to an inch overnight, with winds gusting as high as 45 mph. Drivers should anticipate slick roads, especially on U.S. Route 131 and other major highways.
Friday will bring mostly cloudy skies with a high near 27°F, with northwest winds between 10 and 15 mph. By Friday night, a 40% chance of snow showers lingers before 1 a.m., with lows dipping into the mid-teens.
The weekend forecast shows a shift in conditions. Saturday will be partly sunny with highs near 28°F, while Sunday brings a chance of rain and snow as temperatures rise to the upper 30s. Flood concerns are growing for rivers in Northern Michigan, including the Au Sable and Manistee Rivers, as melting snow combines with incoming precipitation.
Residents should use caution while traveling and stay updated on weather conditions through local forecasts.
