Detroit, MI – A winter system will bring snow and strong winds to Southeast Michigan on Wednesday, creating hazardous travel conditions for morning commuters.

According to the National Weather Service, a clipper system will push through the region late Tuesday into early Wednesday, bringing 1 to 3 inches of snow, mainly north of I-69. Areas south of I-69 will see minimal accumulation, but strong northwest winds reaching 40 mph could create blowing snow and reduced visibility.

Wednesday’s high will reach 34°F with partly sunny skies by the afternoon. Overnight, temperatures will drop to the mid-20s, making for a cold start to Thursday. By Thursday, conditions improve with mostly sunny skies and a high near 39°F. However, another system is expected to arrive late Thursday into Friday, bringing a mix of rain and snow before colder air settles in for the weekend.

Drivers should allow extra travel time Wednesday morning and be prepared for slick roads, especially in areas north of M-59. Wind gusts could make travel difficult for high-profile vehicles. Residents should stay updated on forecasts as winter weather continues to impact the region.
