Gaylord, Michigan –  After a hazy Tuesday across Northern Michigan, relief is on the way — but it comes with a change in the skies. Showers and possible thunderstorms will sweep into Gaylord and surrounding counties by late Wednesday morning, bringing gusty winds and a sharp drop in temperatures.

According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, hazardous smoke from Canadian wildfires will linger through Tuesday evening before clearing out overnight. Air Quality Advisories remain in effect for areas across Eastern Upper and Northern Lower Michigan, especially along U.S. Route 131 and the M-32 corridor. Residents with respiratory conditions are urged to stay indoors and limit outdoor activities.

By Wednesday, expect showers and isolated thunderstorms before 8 a.m., tapering off by afternoon. Temperatures will struggle to reach 67°F, with wind gusts near 20 mph making it feel cooler. Rain chances stand at 80%, with brief downpours possible.

Though Thursday looks calmer, Friday night brings another round of clouds and potential showers. Temperatures will fluctuate between the upper 40s and mid-70s for much of the week.
