Detroit, MI – Showers and thunderstorms are expected to move across Michigan late Wednesday evening, followed by a strong cold front that will bring a sharp drop in temperatures and the possibility of wet, melting snow by Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Detroit/Pontiac, today will be warm and breezy, with gusts up to 30 mph and high temperatures ranging from 66°F to 69°F. However, showers and storms will develop overnight as a cold front pushes through from northwest to southeast on Thursday.

Temperatures will begin to fall Thursday afternoon, with highs only reaching the upper 30s to mid-40s before dipping into the 20s at night. As the colder air settles in, rain could transition to wet, melting snow in some areas. Briefly drier conditions are expected Thursday night into Friday before another round of unsettled weather arrives over the weekend, bringing cooler temperatures and intermittent precipitation.

Drivers should prepare for potentially slick conditions Thursday evening, and residents are advised to stay updated on the latest forecasts. For real-time alerts, visit the National Weather Service or local emergency management websites.
