Detroit, Michigan – Gusty winds and light afternoon showers may dampen Friday travel across southeast Michigan, but clearer skies are on the way for Memorial Day weekend.
According to the National Weather Service office in Detroit/Pontiac, scattered showers are expected after 2 p.m. Friday, especially along the I-94 corridor. Winds from the northwest will reach 11 to 14 mph with gusts as high as 24 mph. While rain chances sit at 30%, no severe weather is anticipated.
Temperatures Friday will top out near 58°F, dropping to the mid-40s overnight under mostly clear skies. Saturday marks a shift—mostly sunny and a high near 64°F. Sunday will warm to 66°F under clear skies, and Memorial Day Monday promises sunshine and a seasonal high near 69°F.
For those heading outdoors or planning backyard gatherings, this weekend offers one of the best stretches of weather in recent weeks. However, breezy Friday conditions could still impact travel or outdoor work early in the day. Avoid unsecured items outside and drive cautiously on wet roads during peak afternoon hours.
Looking ahead, Tuesday remains warm near 70°F, but clouds increase by night. Wednesday brings a return of showers with highs near 71°F, so keep rain gear handy midweek.
This weekend marks the unofficial start of summer for southeast Michigan—and for now, the weather is cooperating. Updates will continue if any advisories develop ahead of Wednesday’s rain chance.
