Grand Rapids, Michigan – Rain and wind could snarl Tuesday’s commute in Grand Rapids as a strong spring system pushes through West Michigan beginning midday. Showers and wind gusts near 30 mph may reduce visibility and make for slick conditions on roads including US-131 and I-196 through Tuesday evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids, a 50 percent chance of showers develops after 2 p.m. Tuesday, with steadier rain likely after 8 p.m. Wind from the east will increase throughout the day, reaching 14 mph with gusts up to 29 mph. Tuesday’s high temperature will hover near 60°F.
Rain continues into Tuesday night, with a 70 percent chance of precipitation and overnight lows near 46°F. Showers taper slightly by Wednesday, though a 40 percent chance remains, paired with a mild high of 62°F. Residents should plan for damp conditions through midweek.
By Thursday, skies clear with partly sunny weather and a return to 60°F. Dry and slightly warmer conditions are expected Friday and into the weekend. Saturday could bring the best spring feel of the week with mostly sunny skies and a high near 68°F.
Motorists should allow extra travel time Tuesday afternoon and secure loose outdoor items due to gusty winds. Keep devices charged and check the latest road conditions before travel.
