Detroit, Michigan – Showers and thunderstorms are set to sweep across southeast Michigan Saturday afternoon, bringing potential for heavy rain and brief wind gusts in Detroit and surrounding cities through the evening hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Detroit, storm activity may begin after 2 p.m., with the strongest cells possible along I-94 and into suburban Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties. Rainfall could cause minor street flooding in low-lying areas, and outdoor events may face delays until conditions improve late Saturday night.

Sunday starts off damp, but skies will gradually clear throughout the day. Daytime highs remain in the upper 70s to low 80s across Ann Arbor, Pontiac, and Dearborn. By Monday, southeast Michigan will enjoy classic summer weather—sunny skies, light winds, and cooler nighttime lows dipping into the upper 50s. Tuesday continues the sunny stretch, with highs near 84°F in Detroit and mid-80s possible for Monroe and Port Huron.

Drivers should slow down on wet roads this weekend, while residents are encouraged to secure outdoor items and monitor local alerts. This marks the first notable round of July thunderstorms in the region since early June.

Conditions improve for the workweek, but additional weather statements may be issued if severe storms redevelop.
