SAGINAW, MI – A spring storm is set to hit southeast Michigan tonight, bringing thunderstorms and the potential for small hail. According to the National Weather Service, severe storms are expected to impact the Saginaw Valley and Thumb areas from 6 to 10 PM today, April 19. Along with the small hail, gusty winds could reach speeds of up to 50 mph, with damaging winds being a significant concern.
Travelers on major highways such as I-75 and US-23 should stay alert as conditions could change rapidly. Roadways may become slippery due to heavy rainfall, and reduced visibility could make travel difficult. Drivers are urged to monitor weather updates closely and plan for delays.
The storm will move eastward with a slower cold front, and additional thunderstorms may continue through the night. While most of the severe weather will dissipate after midnight, there’s still a slight chance of isolated strong storms producing small hail and localized heavy rainfall.
Looking ahead, temperatures will remain mild through the weekend. Saturday will see highs near 60°F with a chance of showers. Sunday, April 20, will be mostly sunny with highs around 56°F. By Monday, rain is expected to return, bringing an 80% chance of precipitation, followed by a drier and warmer Tuesday, with sunny skies and highs in the mid-60s.
