Marquette, Michigan – Gusty winds, low humidity, and a lack of rain have created a dangerous fire weather setup across Upper Michigan heading into Monday and Tuesday. Fire danger remains elevated across Marquette, Houghton, Baraga, and Alger Counties, where red flag conditions will persist through at least Tuesday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, gusts up to 35 mph and continued dry, sunny weather will combine to support potentially critical wildfire behavior, especially in downslope areas near Lake Superior and along US-41. Burn restrictions remain in place. Outdoor burning is not advised. Residents should report any signs of wildfire activity immediately by calling 911.

Daytime temperatures will soar into the upper 70s Monday and Tuesday, with clear skies and steady south winds of 15 to 20 mph. Nights will remain warm, dipping only into the low-to-mid 50s, offering no relief from the dry stretch that began over the weekend.

Looking ahead, Wednesday continues the warm and dry trend with a high near 72°F. By Thursday, the pattern breaks slightly as scattered showers develop late in the day, offering some moisture relief. Rain chances continue Friday, though amounts may be light.
