Detroit, MI – Cold air lingers across the Great Lakes this morning, the kind that leaves a crisp bite in the air before sunrise. Southeast Michigan is calm for now, but clouds are already gathering ahead of a system that will bring rain, gusty winds, and possibly the first hint of Thanksgiving snow before week’s end.

According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, scattered rain develops late Monday and becomes steady through Tuesday. Temperatures will climb briefly into the lower 50s before colder air rushes in midweek. Travelers along I-94, I-75, and I-96 should expect periods of wet pavement and reduced visibility Tuesday afternoon and evening.

By Wednesday, lingering showers and falling temperatures could bring a few flakes across inland counties as the cold front clears the region. Thanksgiving Day itself looks mostly dry but brisk, with highs only in the upper 30s and winds adding a sharp chill.

The pattern turns even colder into the weekend — a true November reminder that winter isn’t far away. Friday and Saturday mornings may dip into the 20s with a chance of light snow returning by Sunday.

Five-Day Outlook (Nov. 24–28):

  • Tuesday: Rain, breezy; high 52°F.
  • Wednesday: Rain and gusty; high 51°F.
  • Thanksgiving Day: Mostly cloudy, breezy, cold; high 37°F.
  • Friday: Partly sunny, cold; high 36°F.
  • Saturday: Chance of snow; high 36°F.
