Detroit, MI – A crisp morning still hangs over Metro Detroit, but clouds are already gathering to the west — signaling Michigan’s next shift toward classic November weather. After two more mild, dry days, a storm system late in the week will bring widespread rain followed by a sharp cooldown and a possible rain-to-snow mix Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, highs will reach the low 60s Wednesday before winds increase from the southwest. Light rain is expected to develop late in the day, with a 40% chance of showers by afternoon. Thursday turns cooler but clear, offering a brief break before the next round of rain moves in.

By Friday, widespread rainfall covers much of southeastern Michigan, with up to a half inch possible through Friday night. Winds gusting near 25 mph will make travel damp and slow for commuters along I-75, I-94, and I-96. Temperatures will remain near 59°F but drop steadily through Saturday as colder air sweeps in from the northwest.

Sunday may bring the first snowflakes of the season, especially north and west of Detroit where temperatures fall near freezing. While accumulation isn’t expected yet, it’s an early hint of the winter pattern beginning to build across the Great Lakes.

Residents should plan for wet roads Friday and bundle up for a chilly finish to the weekend — a preview of the cold snaps likely heading toward Michigan later this November.
