GAYLORD, Mich. – Drivers across northern Michigan should prepare for patchy fog early Monday morning, September 15, that may reduce visibility along I-75 and surrounding roadways before skies turn mostly sunny by midday. Motorists are urged to use headlights, slow down, and allow extra time for commutes, as thick fog could linger until 10 a.m.

According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, calm winds and high humidity will aid fog development overnight into Monday morning. Temperatures will climb to near 79 degrees Monday afternoon, bringing a mild, early fall feel after the fog clears. Conditions will remain calm, with southeast winds around 5 mph.

The week ahead looks seasonably warm and dry for Otsego County and neighboring areas, with Tuesday and Wednesday each expected to reach highs of 81 to 82 degrees. Clear skies dominate most of the period, making for favorable conditions for outdoor events, farm work, and school activities. Travelers on US-131 and M-32 should still watch for limited morning fog pockets through Tuesday.

By Thursday, cooler air filters in, with highs dipping to around 80 degrees. Rain chances return Friday, when showers may impact evening plans, followed by a sharp drop in weekend temperatures. Saturday could feel like a true taste of fall, with highs only reaching the mid-60s.

Residents should prepare for cooler nights ahead, charge devices in case of weather-related power issues Friday, and plan for slower commutes when fog is present.
