Marquette, MI –
Lake-effect snow continues to impact areas downwind of Lake Superior this morning, with periods of moderate to heavy snow in parts of northern Marquette County and western Alger County, according to the National Weather Service in Marquette.

Through 8 a.m., an additional inch of accumulation is expected across much of the central Upper Peninsula, with 1 to 3 inches possible in north-central areas. After 8 a.m., snow will lighten for most of the region but persist near the Lake Superior shoreline through the afternoon.

Forecasters say the heaviest snow bands could produce rapidly changing visibility and slick road conditions, especially along U.S. Highway 41 and M-28. Total accumulations may reach 2 to 5 inches in the most persistent snow zones by evening.

Lake-effect snow showers will gradually weaken and shift east tonight as winds ease and drier air moves in. Motorists are advised to allow extra time for travel and remain alert for icy spots on untreated roads.
