Gaylord, MI – A lake effect snow system will continue into Tuesday morning, bringing snow showers and bitterly cold temperatures to northern Michigan. The worst of the cold is expected early Tuesday, with wind chills dipping into the single digits and teens across much of the snowbelt region.

Additional snow accumulation is expected between 8 p.m. tonight and 11 a.m. Tuesday, particularly in areas along the Lake Michigan and Lake Huron snow belts. While accumulations are anticipated to be light, the biting cold and wind will significantly impact visibility and road conditions, especially in the northern counties and near the M-55 corridor.

According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, wind chills tonight and early Tuesday could make it feel like temperatures are as low as -4°F in certain areas. Travelers are advised to remain vigilant about rapidly changing conditions on roadways.

Later in the week, a new weather system will pass south of the state midweek, potentially bringing a mix of rain and snow. By Wednesday, temperatures will rise slightly to 36°F, with snow showers and some cloud cover expected to linger.

Residents are urged to monitor local weather updates and use caution when driving in snowy or icy conditions.
