Grand Rapids, MI – A mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain is creating dangerous road conditions across southwest and central Michigan this morning. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. as icy roads and slick surfaces continue to impact travel.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids, snow and sleet accumulations of up to half an inch are expected, with ice glazing up to a tenth of an inch in some areas. Cities affected include Grand Rapids, Muskegon, Kalamazoo, Lansing, and Jackson.

Officials warn drivers to use caution, as untreated roads, bridges, and overpasses may be especially slippery. Commuters should allow extra travel time and check for updated road conditions before heading out.

Temperatures are expected to rise later this morning, helping to improve road conditions as precipitation transitions to rain. Until then, drivers should slow down and remain alert for changing road conditions.
