Detroit, MI — A winter storm will bring heavy snow and strong winds to southeastern Michigan on Wednesday, making roads hazardous during the afternoon and evening commute. Forecasters warn of up to 5 inches of snow, with gusts reaching 22 mph.

According to the National Weather Service, snowfall will begin after 1 p.m. on Wednesday, intensifying throughout the evening. Winds from the east-northeast at 9–13 mph will increase to 22 mph at times, reducing visibility. Temperatures will hover around 30°F, making for heavy, wet snow that could impact travel.

Thursday will be mostly cloudy with a high near 30°F before another round of snow moves in Friday night. Weekend temperatures will remain cold, with lows dipping to 6°F by Sunday night.

Drivers should prepare for slick roads, particularly along I-75 and I-94, where blowing snow may cause reduced visibility. Those commuting Wednesday evening should allow extra time for travel and consider alternate routes.

Stay updated with local weather alerts and be cautious on the roads as winter conditions persist throughout the week.
