Ann Arbor, MI – A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect across southeast Michigan until 10 a.m. Sunday, as heavy snow continues to blanket the region this evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, total snow accumulations of 6 to 8 inches are expected, especially along and west of US-23, including areas such as Saginaw, Midland, Bay City, Ann Arbor, Howell, and Adrian. Peak snowfall rates of up to 1 inch per hour are possible between 6 p.m. and 2 a.m., with conditions tapering off Sunday morning.
Drivers should anticipate very difficult travel overnight, with snow-covered roads and low visibility making commutes hazardous. Officials advise motorists to delay travel if possible and use extreme caution when driving, particularly on hills, ramps, and intersections.
The Michigan Department of Transportation urges travelers to check the latest road conditions using the Michigan Drive Map before heading out. Residents are also reminded to keep an emergency kit with food, water, and a flashlight in their vehicles.
