Detroit, Michigan – High heat and humidity are set to grip Southeast Michigan Tuesday, July 29, with dangerously high feels-like temperatures reaching up to 101 degrees.

According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, a Heat Advisory remains in effect from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday for cities including Detroit, Flint, Saginaw, Ann Arbor, Monroe, and Pontiac. The combination of mid-90s temperatures and stifling humidity could make outdoor conditions unsafe, especially during the late morning and afternoon hours.

Drivers along I-75, I-94, and other major corridors should expect slower travel and higher vehicle temperatures. Residents are urged to avoid strenuous activity midday, seek shade, and drink plenty of water. Vulnerable groups—children, pets, the elderly—are at increased risk of heat-related illness. Never leave pets or people in parked vehicles, where cabin temperatures can spike in minutes.

Scattered thunderstorms may develop late Tuesday, with a 30–40% chance of rain into Tuesday night, bringing brief relief from the heat.
