Marquette, Michigan – Winds are picking up across Michigan’s Upper Peninsula today, and Marquette could feel it the most with gusts reaching 25 mph by afternoon. Drivers on U.S. 41 should prepare for sudden bursts of wind, especially in open stretches and near Lake Superior.

According to the National Weather Service, northeast winds between 10 and 15 mph will strengthen throughout the day, occasionally gusting up to 25 mph in Marquette and surrounding areas. While skies will stay mostly sunny, cooler air lingers, keeping highs around 48°F—well below typical late-May warmth.

East wind continues into Tuesday night, bringing increasing clouds and a low near 41°F. Winds could still gust up to 20 mph, making for a breezy and chilly evening.

Wednesday offers a brief warm-up with highs near 50°F and more sunshine. But by Wednesday night, cloud cover returns ahead of the week’s next change: rain chances creeping in Thursday night.

A 30% chance of showers is expected after 8 p.m. Thursday, and while no storms are in the forecast yet, wet roads could impact evening drivers. Temperatures stay in the 40s overnight.
