Marquette, MI – A breezy and foggy start to the end of the week is impacting Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, with gusty winds and fluctuating temperatures creating hazardous travel conditions along the Great Lakes.
According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, westerly winds are expected to reach up to 30 mph today, with isolated gusts peaking at 45 mph near the lakeshore. Showers and dense fog will linger through the morning before clearing by afternoon. High temperatures today will range from 38°F to 45°F.
Friday brings increasing cloud cover but generally dry conditions, with highs between 39°F and 48°F. Overnight lows may dip as low as 19°F in the interior western counties, continuing the week’s chilly trend.
Motorists are advised to drive cautiously this morning due to reduced visibility from fog and wet roads. Winds may also affect high-profile vehicles near the shoreline.
Light precipitation is expected to return early Saturday, including the potential for freezing rain or light snow mainly in the morning, especially in the Keweenaw Peninsula.
Residents should secure loose outdoor objects, use extra caution during early morning travel, and monitor updates from local emergency management for changing conditions.
