Michigan’s rain-soaked streets are already reflecting gray skies, and steady showers are beginning to push water into low spots across Grand Rapids. The air feels damp and heavy, and conditions are primed to worsen through the afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids, rain and thunderstorms today could bring minor flooding, with a Flood Warning already in effect for several rivers including the Grand River near Comstock Park. Water levels remain elevated, and additional rainfall may worsen conditions through the day.

Highs climb near 75°F, but periods of moderate to heavy rain will limit visibility and create slick travel along US-131 and I-196. Drivers should avoid flooded roads and allow extra time, especially near river crossings and low-lying neighborhoods.

Rain intensifies later today, with a 90% chance of showers continuing into tonight. Some areas could pick up significant rainfall, increasing the risk of standing water and minor flooding. Officials warn not to drive through barricades where water covers roads.

Monday brings a brief lull with only a 30% chance of showers, but the break will be short-lived. By Monday night, rain returns with an 80% chance, setting up another round of wet conditions.

Tuesday continues the unsettled pattern, with a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms. By Wednesday, rain chances climb again to 70%, prolonging the flood risk across West Michigan.

Looking ahead, persistent rainfall through midweek may keep rivers elevated and slow drainage across the region. Stay alert for updates and be cautious near waterways. Are you seeing flooding or rising water near your area?
