Gaylord, MI – Northern Michigan residents can expect a stretch of mild, sunny afternoons this week, but the National Weather Service (NWS) is warning that frost is possible tonight in some interior locations.
According to the NWS Gaylord office, Monday will bring mostly sunny skies with highs ranging from 69 to 77 degrees. Afternoon temperatures will remain in the 70s through midweek, but clear skies and dry air could allow nighttime lows to fall sharply into the 30s and 40s. That drop raises the risk of frost, particularly in low-lying and interior areas.
Tuesday’s forecast calls for highs between 66 and 78 degrees under mostly sunny skies. By Wednesday, cooler conditions are expected, with highs ranging from 62 to 74 degrees. Despite the daytime warmth, overnight frost remains possible in parts of the region when temperatures dip near freezing.
The NWS advises residents with gardens, crops, or sensitive plants to prepare for the potential frost tonight. Covering plants or bringing them indoors could help prevent damage from the sudden temperature shift.
