Springfield, MI – A Springfield man allegedly fled on foot after crashing into a local business early Sunday morning, causing major property damage but no injuries.
According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 1:30 a.m. to All Star Transmission at 454 N. 20th Street. Authorities said the vehicle caused significant damage to the building and several parked vehicles.
Deputies later identified the suspect as a 41-year-old Springfield man who was allegedly intoxicated at the time and currently on probation. An adult female passenger was in the vehicle but was not injured, according to officials.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Calhoun County Consolidated Dispatch Authority and the Springfield Fire Department. The driver reportedly fled the scene before being identified following an extensive investigation.
