
Cassopolis, MI – An 81-year-old Niles man was injured Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Milton Township, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said the crash happened around 2:45 p.m. near the intersection of Gumwood Road and Bertrand Street. According to Sheriff Clint Roach, a vehicle driven by Kearron Morris of Niles was traveling north on Gumwood Road when he allegedly failed to stop in time and rear-ended another vehicle.
Deputies reported the second vehicle was driven by Hannah McLinden, 19, of Niles. Investigators said McLinden was attempting a left turn from Gumwood Road onto Bertrand Street at the time of the crash.
Morris was transported by ambulance to South Bend Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the collision. McLinden was reportedly treated at the scene by emergency responders.
The sheriff’s office stated alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash, and both drivers were wearing seat belts. Assisting at the scene was SMCAS Ambulance.
The incident remains under investigation by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
