Detroit, MI – Drivers across Detroit will face significant delays this week as construction linked to the Gordie Howe International Bridge continues to impact several major roadways, including I-75, I-96, Fort Street, and Livernois Avenue.

According to Bridging North America, lane closures and detours will occur throughout late September and into October, with closures happening both during the day and overnight.

On I-75, northbound lanes near Clark Street and the Ambassador Bridge on-ramp will see closures between September 22–27. Southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Green Street and Lewerentz Street through October 17, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

On I-96, three right lanes eastbound will close between Warren Avenue and Pacific Avenue nightly through September 26, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Closures will continue into October near Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and Selden Street for signage work.

On Fort Street, lane reductions will be in place between Crawford Street and Cavalry Street through October 1, while detours affect traffic to and from Livernois Avenue.

Additional long-term closures remain on Livernois Avenue and West Lafayette Blvd., which will stay shut down at intersections with I-75 Service Drive until fall 2025.

Detour routes are posted, but officials warn that travel times may be longer during these closures.
